THOSE who do not mind getting dirty in the pursuit of adventure should definitely try the latest craze to hit the shores of Port Dickson — dirt biking and off-road buggy driving.

Despite just a simple signboard announcing its presence, the newly-opened PD Buggy Trek Pit-Stop is set to be a hit with both adults and children alike.

Though its facade seems unassuming, there are plenty of thrills awaiting adventure seekers who dare to brave its 800m racing circuit.

Visitors can take their pick from scramblers, single and double-seater off-road buggies and ATVs (all-terrain vehicles) available at the facility for a ride.

Whatever your choice, thrill-seekers will definitely enjoy the adrenalin rush from the experience.

Co-owner Ajib said the facility had attracted its fair share of visitors since it opened its doors a couple of weeks ago.

“We had just started our trial runs and not even properly opened yet but curious passers-by kept asking if they could try the rides.

“Judging from the initial response, people seem to be quite receptive to dirt biking and buggy driving,” he said, adding that the facility was the first of its kind in Negri Sembilan.

The good news is that the experience can be enjoyed by all in the family as PD Bugy Trek also has two baby ATVs for children aged four years and above.

“We have had quite a few children driving the buggies and ATVs with adult supervision.

“My 12-year-old daughter Ionie is already an expert driver, having learnt the ropes while we were setting up the place,” said De Costa, adding that the buggies were only meant for those 12 years and above.

De Costa said dirt biking and buggy driving were much more fun than go-karting because it was an all-weather experience.

“It’s more fun after a rainy day but expect to get dirty. It’s definitely a thrilling sport.

“The experience is affordable. It costs RM20 for three laps around the circuit on a scrambler, in a buggy or an ATV,” he said.

Little children can ride the baby ATVs safely at an adjoining track for RM5 per head for a 10-minute excursion.

The safety of patrons is a priority and the petrol-powered vehicles are checked daily by the on-site mechanic to ensure everything is in good working order.

A marshall will also be present at all times to ensure everything runs smoothly.

And if you get dirty fret not, there are showers available at the facility. There is also a burger and soft-drink stand in the premises for hungry patrons.

De Costa, who is passionate about the sport, said if all went well he hoped to offer buggy rides through a jungle track in a nearby oil palm estate next.

“We are in the midst of discussions but we have a long way to go. Let’s hope this endeavour works out first.

“At present our track is open from 9.30am until 7.30pm but we will be extending our hours soon after installing spotlights around the circuit,” he said, adding that the facility was open daily.
